Hyperlinks are especially useful when you want to link to an external website, but don't want to clog up your valuable Agenda space with a long web link. Follow the steps below to insert a hyperlink into an Agenda.

Step 1: Navigate to the Agenda item and click it so the editing side panel is open

Step 2: Add text into the Description box -- this is where you'll add in the hyperlink

Step 3: Use one of the following options to add the hyperlink

Option 1

In the Description Box, highlight the word(s) that you want the hyperlink to go to (like "United Way" below), then click the chain symbol (hyperlink) button.

When the button is clicked, a pop-up will display.

In the URL text field, paste the website link you want to include.

You can leave the Title field blank, and we recommend selecting selecting open link in new window in the fourth dropdown field. This will make it so when the link is clicked, it will open the website in a new browser tab.

Click Save to insert the hyperlink.

Your hyperlink will now display in the Description Box!

Skip down to Step 4 if you used Option 1 to insert your hyperlink.

Option 2

In the Description Box toolbar, click the chain symbol (hyperlink) button.

When the button is clicked, a pop-up will display.

In the URL text field, paste the website link you want to include. You'll notice that the Text To Display field also auto-populates with the link when it's pasted.

[Note] If you immediately hit Save and do not proceed to the next step, the entire hyperlink will show up in your Description box.

Delete the URL link from the Text to Display field and add in the words that you would like to display. In this example, I want to link to the words "United Way."

You can leave the Title field blank, and we recommend selecting selecting open link in new window in the fourth dropdown field. This will make it so when the link is clicked, it will open the website in a new browser tab.

Click Save to insert the hyperlink.

You'll see that we now have a United Way hyperlink in the Description box. When this option is used, the link will automatically appear at the front of the text you created.

Cut and Paste the United Way hyperlink into the proper place in the description, and delete the United Way text so it reads like below.

Step 4: Click Save

Step 5: View your new hyperlink in your Agenda or as a PDF!

Agenda View:

PDF View:

  • When you view your Agenda as a PDF in your browser, the full web link will display after the word you linked to. The reason for this is because when an Agenda is printed, your board members will know which link was used in so they can reference it on their own later.

  • The hyperlink is live in this version as well, even though it doesn't look like a traditional, underlined web link. If you hover over or click "United Way" while viewing it as a PDF, it will take you to the United Way website.
