# View & Edit User Settings in the Mobile App

## Learn how to open user settings on the mobile app and make changes.

### I. Introduction to Mobile User Settings

The following information from user settings can be viewed and edited on the mobile app:

- Profile picture
- Shared info (visible to all admins, observers, and members)

    - First name
    - Last name
    - Pronouns
    - Board role
    - Board term
    - Job title
    - Company
    - About
- Contact info (visible to all admins, observers, and members)

    - Contact email address
    - Contact phone number
    - Twitter profile URL
    - Facebook profile URL
    - LinkedIn profile URL
- Location

    - Address
    - Address line 2
    - City
    - State / territory / province
    - Phone number
- DEI

    - Race
    - Gender
    - Education
    - Age
    - Birthday

All other settings sections, including login and password and notification settings can only be viewed and edited on the web app or desktop app.

On the mobile app, the sections listed above are only visible for the viewer's own profile. Even admins need to use the web app or desktop app to view or edit the settings of any other user.

### II. View Profile on Mobile App

To access the settings above on the mobile app:

1. Open the Boardable app
2. Tap **More**

3. Tap **User Settings**

     1. The profile picture appears at the top of the screen
     2. Tap desired setting section to open and review its contents; to learn the contents of each setting section, please see Section I

            1. Options are:

                     - Shared Info
                     - Shared Info
                     - Contact Info
                     - Location
                     - DEI

### Edit Profile Picture

1. Open the Boardable app
2. Tap **More**

3. Tap **User Settings**

     1. The profile picture appears at the top of the screen

4. Tap **+** at the bottom right side of the gray silhouette

     1. Device directory of photos opens

5. Tap the desired photo
6. Tap the green check mark at the bottom right side of the profile picture circle

     1. Selected photo is set as the profile picture

Edit Shared Info

***Note****: hyperlinks cannot be added to the About section using the mobile app. To add a hyperlink to this field, use the web app or desktop app.*

1. Open the Boardable app
2. Tap **More**

3. Tap **User Settings**

     1. *User Settings* menu opens

4. Tap **Shared Info**

     1. *Shared Info* section of user settings opens
     2. To edit first name:

            - Tap text box labeled *First Name*
            - Add or delete desired text
            - Tap **Save**

                    - Display name is updated
                    - App redirects to user settings menu

     3. To edit last name:

            - Tap text box labeled *Last Name*
            - Add or delete desired text
            - Tap **Save**

                    - Display name is updated
                    - App redirects to user settings menu

            1. To edit pronouns:

                     - Tap menu labeled *Preferred Pronouns*

                               - Options drop down
                               - Tap pronoun series to select, from: *none*, *He/Him*, *She/Her*, *They/Them*, and *Other*.
                               - To select pronoun series not listed:

                                           - Tap **Other**
                                           - Tap text box labeled *Specify Gender*
                                           - Type pronouns
                     - Tap **Save**

                               - Pronouns shown in platform are updated
                               - App redirects to user settings menu

            2. To edit board role:

                     - Tap text box labeled *Board Role*

                               - Add or delete desired text
                               - Tap **Save**

                                           - Board role displayed in platform is updated
                                           - App redirects to user settings menu

            3. To edit board term:

                     - Tap date field labeled *From*

                               - Date picker opens
                     - Tap desired start date from date picker
                     - Tap date field labeled *To*

                               - Date picker opens
                     - Tap desired end date from date picker
                     - Tap **Save**

                               - Board term displayed in platform is updated
                               - App redirects to user settings menu

            4. To edit job title:

                     - Tap text box labeled *Job title*
                     - Add or delete desired text
                     - Tap **Save**

                               - Job title displayed in platform is updated
                               - App redirects to user settings menu

            5. To edit company:

                     - Tap text box labeled *Job title*
                     - Add or delete desired text
                     - Tap **Save**

                               - Company displayed in platform is updated
                               - App redirects to user settings menu

            6. To edit About text:

                     - Tap text box labeled *About*
                     - Add or delete desired text

                               - The following formatting options are supported: Bold, Italics, Underline, Numbered list, Bulleted list
                     - Tap **Save**

                               - About text is updated
                               - App redirects to user settings menu

### Edit Contact Info

***Note****: the contact email address does not receive email notifications. Only the login address and secondary notification addresses can receive these. To update these addresses, use the web app or desktop app.*

To edit contact info:

1. Open the Boardable app
2. Tap **More**

3. Tap **User Settings**

     1. *User Settings* menu opens

4. Tap **Contact Info**

     1. *Contact info* section of user settings opens

5. To edit contact email address:

     1. Tap text box labeled *Contact Email Address*
     2. Add or delete desired text
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Contact email address displayed to other users is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

6. To edit contact phone number:

     1. Tap text box labeled Contact Phone Number
     2. Type desired phone number
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Contact phone number displayed to other users is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

7. To edit Twitter Profile URL:

     1. Tap text box labeled *Twitter Profile URL*
     2. Type or paste twitter/X profile URL
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Twitter profile URL displayed to other users is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

8. To edit Facebook profile URL:

     1. Tap text box labeled *Facebook Profile URL*
     2. Type or paste Facebook profile URL
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Facebook profile URL displayed to other users is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

9. To edit LinkedIn Profile URL:

     1. Tap text box labeled *LinkedIn Profile URL*
     2. Type or paste LinkedIn profile URL
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. LinkedIn profile URL displayed to other users is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

### Edit Location

To edit location:

1. Open the Boardable app
2. Tap **More**

3. Tap **User Settings**

     1. *User Settings* menu opens

4. Tap **Location**

     1. *Location* section of user settings opens

5. To edit address:

     1. Tap text box labeled *Address*
     2. Add or edit first line of address
     3. Tap text box labeled *Address 2*
     4. Type or edit second line of address
     5. Tap **Save**

            1. Address displayed to admins is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

6. To edit city:

     1. Tap text box labeled City
     2. Type or edit city name
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. City displayed to admins is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

7. To edit state, territory, or province:

     1. Tap text box labeled *State/Territory/Province*
     2. Add or edit state, territory, or province
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. State, territory, or province displayed to admins is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

8. To edit postal code:

     1. Tap text box labeled *Postal code*
     2. Add or edit postal code
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Postal code displayed to admins is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

9. To edit phone number displayed to admins only:

     1. Tap text box labeled phone
     2. Add or edit personal phone number
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Postal code displayed to admins is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

### Edit DEI Information

To edit DEI information:

1. Open the Boardable app
2. Tap **More**

3. Tap **User Settings**

     1. *User Settings* menu opens

4. Tap DEI

     1. *DEI* section of user settings opens

5. To edit race:

     1. Tap drop down field labeled *Race*

            1. Options drop down
            2. Tap race to select, from: *Not Selected, White/Caucasian*, *Hispanic/Latino*, *Black,* *Asian*, *Native American and Pacific Islander*, and *Other*.
            3. To select race not listed:

                     - Tap **Other**
                     - Tap text box labeled *Specify Race*
                     - Type race
            4. Tap **Save**

                     - Race field in DEI section is updated
                     - App redirects to *User Settings* menu

6. To edit gender:

     1. Tap drop down field labeled Gender

            - Tap gender to select, from: *Not selected, Female*, *Male*, and *Other*.
            - To select gender not listed:

                    - Tap **Other**
                    - Tap text box labeled *Specify Gender*
                    - Type gender
            - Tap **Save**

                    - Gender field in DEI section is updated
                    - App redirects to *User Settings* menu

     1. To edit highest education level completed:

            1. Tap drop down labeled *Highest Education Level Completed*

                     - Tap level to select, from: not selected, PhD/Doctorate, Master's degree, Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, Some college — no degree, High school diploma or equivalent, No formal educational credential
                     - Tap **Save**

                               - Education field in DEI section is updated
                               - App redirects to *User Settings* menu

7. To edit age:

     1. Tap text box labeled *Age*
     2. Type or edit age
     3. Tap **Save**

            1. Age field in DEI section is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu

8. To edit birthday:

     1. Tap date field labeled Birthday

            1. Date picker opens
     2. Tap birthday from date picker
     3. Tap **Confirm**
     4. Tap **Save**

            1. Birthday field in DEI section is updated
            2. App redirects to *User Settings* menu
