Learn how to customize settings for Boardable Video

I. Open Settings

To open the settings menu for Boardable Video:

  1. Join a Boardable Video conferencing session

    1. To learn how to do this, please see Related Articles

  2. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

II. Audio & Video

The following settings can be customized from the Audio & Video tab of the Boardable Video settings menu:

Camera

The camera used for a Boardable Video conferencing session is first set when joining the session. To change this once the meeting is started:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video settings menu opens, defaulting to the Audio & Video tab

  2. Click the field beneath Camera to drop down options

  3. Click desired camera from these options

    1. Video feed source switches to selected camera

Microphone

The microphone used for a Boardable Video conferencing session is first set when joining the session. To change this once the meeting is started:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video settings menu opens, defaulting to the Audio & Video tab

  2. Click the field beneath Microphone to drop down options

  3. Click desired microphone from these options

    1. Audio feed source switches to selected microphone

To test the microphone:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video settings menu opens, defaulting to the Audio & Video tab

  2. Click Test your mic next to Microphone

    1. A 5 second audio clip is recorded

      1. While clip is recording, the message 🔴 Recording displays

      2. To end recording at a shorter length, click Stop recording

    2. When recording is complete, the 🔴 Recording message changes to a play sound (🔈) button

  3. Click the play sound (🔈) button

    1. Audio clip recorded during step 1 plays

    2. Listen to ensure selected microphone captures sounds as wanted

Speaker

The speaker used to listen to a Boardable Video conferencing session is first set when joining the session. To change this once the meeting is started:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video settings menu opens, defaulting to the Audio & Video tab

  2. Click the field beneath Speaker to drop down options

  3. Click desired speaker from these options

    1. Audio source switches to selected speaker

To test the speaker:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video settings menu opens, defaulting to the Audio & Video tab

  2. Click Test Speaker

    1. A test sound plays

    2. Listen to ensure selected speaker sounds as wanted

Noise Reduction

To minimize the sound picked up by the microphone other than voice:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video settings menu opens, defaulting to the Audio & Video tab

  2. Click the toggle next to Reduce background noise from mic

    1. Sound captured other than that closest to the voice is reduced

      1. To turn it off, click the same toggle again, turning this option off

III. Video Quality

Reducing video quality when working from a network with limited bandwidth can reduce buffering, minimize strain on bandwidth, and ensure the best possible experience of the meeting.

To change the quality with which other participants' video feeds are displayed:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

  2. Click the Video Quality tab

  3. Click the bubble to the right of the desired video quality, from the following options:

    1. Auto (High quality)

      1. Video quality is automatically adjusted based on network conditions

    2. High quality

      1. Video is always set to the highest quality possible

    3. Low quality

      1. Video may be pixelated; best for slow connections

    4. Bandwidth saver

      1. Your camera is turned off. You'll receive low quality video from others. Best for mobile or poor connections.

IV. User Preferences

The following settings can be customized from the User Preferences tab of the Boardable Video settings menu:

Language

To change the language of the Boardable Video settings menu, the meeting options menu at the bottom of the screen, and the meeting information panel opened on the right side of the screen from this menu:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

  2. Click the User Preferences tab

  3. Click the field beneath Language to drop down options:

    1. Deutsch

    2. English

    3. Español

    4. Français

    5. Italiano

    6. Nederlands

    7. Norsk

    8. Polski

    9. Portuguēs (Brasil)

    10. Portuguēs (Portugal)

    11. Pусский

    12. Suomi

    13. Svenska

    14. Türkçe

    15. ქართული

    16. 日本語

  4. Click desired language from these options

    1. Text in the fields listed above are translated to the selected language

Chat Notifications

The Boardable Video chat can provide pop-out notifications at the top right side of the call screen each time a new message is added to the video chat. To learn more about Boardable Video chat, please see Related Articles.

These notifications can be displayed at one of the following frequencies:

  • Only when chat is closed

    • Notifications are displayed when the viewer does not have the chat open in the information panel at the right side of the screen

  • Always

    • Notifications are displayed regardless of whether the chat is open

  • Never

    • Notifications are not displayed

Only when chat is closed is the default selection. To change this:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

  2. Click the User Preferences tab

  3. Click the field beneath Chat Notifications to drop down options

  4. Click desired frequency from these options

Default Emoji Skin Tone

The default skin tone of the reactions listed below can be customized:

  • Clap 👏

  • Thumbs up 👍

  • Thumbs down 👎

  • Wave 👋

To do so:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

  2. Click the User Preferences tab

  3. Click the field beneath Default Emoji Skin Tone to drop down options

  4. Click desired default skin tone from these options

V. Background Effects

The following backgrounds can be added to a Boardable Video participant's video feed:

  • Soft blur

  • Blur

  • Coffee shop

  • Forest

  • Hills

  • Library

  • Lounge

  • Ocean

  • Office

  • Palms

  • Roller coaster

  • Custom background

To do so:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top left side of the conferencing screen

  2. Click the Background effects tab

    1. To use a pre-set background:

      1. Click desired background effect

        • Selected background is added to video feed

    2. To use a custom background:

      1. Click Use Custom Background

        • Device directory opens

      2. Select desired image from device directory

        • Selected image is added as background to video feed
