Set up and publish polls from the dashboard, Polls page, meeting pages, or group pages.

Before You Begin

Polls allow admins and meeting or group leaders to gather quick input from selected participants. Polls remain visible only to creators until published. After publication, polls become visible to all assigned users.

Roles that can create polls depend on the page they are created from:

  • Dashboard and Polls Page: Organization admins

  • Meeting Page: Organization admins, meeting creators, meeting collaborators

  • Group Page: Organization admins, group owners, group admins

Participants you assign must belong to the meeting or group where the poll was created.


Open the New Poll Menu from the Dashboard

Use the home dashboard to create a poll quickly.

  1. Click Home from the main menu.

  2. Scroll to the Polls panel.

  3. Click the + button to open the Create a New Poll menu.

Organization admins can also create polls from the dedicated Polls section.

  1. Click Polls from the main menu.

  2. Click Add Poll to open the Create a New Poll menu.


Open the New Poll Menu from a Meeting Page

Meeting-level polls can be created when decisions relate to specific agendas or attendees. Only invited admins, members, and observers may be assigned to these polls.

  1. Navigate to the meeting page.

  2. Click the Tasks & Polls tab.

  3. Next to Polls, click the + button to open the Create a New Poll menu.

Group polls are limited to group members.

  1. Navigate to the desired group page.

  2. Click the Tasks & Polls tab.

  3. Next to Polls, click the + button to open the Create a New Poll menu.


Create a New Poll

The Create a New Poll menu includes all settings required before publishing.
Important: After any votes are submitted, only the due date can be edited.

Poll Details

  • Question/Title – Enter a clear poll question.

  • Description – Add supporting details.

  • File Attachments – Click Attach files to add files from your device, Document Center, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.

Answer Options

  • Enter at least two response options in the Answers / options fields.

  • To allow write-in answers (Professional and Enterprise only), select Allow write-in responses.

  • To permit multiple selections:

    1. Click the dropdown labeled One answer.

    2. Select Multiple answers.

Voting and Security Settings

  • Due date – Set when the poll closes.

  • Verify user identity – Requires participants to log in with their Boardable password.

  • Keep votes anonymous – Hides who selected each option, even from admins. Totals remain visible.

  • Allow users to update responses (Professional and Enterprise only) – Participants may change their vote.

  • Notify when all votes are complete – Notify the admin or all participants.

Add Participants

  1. Type a name in the Type a person’s name field.

  2. Select the user or group from the list.

  3. To remove a participant, click X next to the person’s name.

Save and Publish

  1. Click Save to create the poll in draft form.

  2. Click Publish Poll to make it visible and notify participants.


Troubleshooting

Assigned users can't see the poll

  • The poll may not be published. Only published polls are visible to assigned members and observers.

  • The poll may be closed. Once the due date passes, the poll stops accepting votes.

Users cannot vote because a Boardable password is required

  • If Verify user identity was enabled, participants must log in with their Boardable password—even if they normally use Google, Microsoft, or LinkedIn SSO.

  • Users can reset their password if needed.

Poll options cannot be edited

  • After any votes are cast, only the due date can be changed.

  • To modify other settings, create a new poll.
