Learn the permissions of each role in a Boardable Video conferencing session, and how to change a participant's role

I. Introduction

In a Boardable Video conferencing session, some participants can remove others from the call. Additionally, some participants can mute others, and turn off the cameras of others.

These permissions are determined by a participant's Boardable Video role.

There are two Boardable Video roles:

  • Boardable Video admin

  • Boardable Video attendee

To view a person's Boardable Video role:

  1. Join the Boardable Video conferencing session

  2. Click People from the meeting options menu at the bottom of the video conferencing screen

    1. Boardable Video conferencing session participants are listed in the Meeting Information panel that opens on the right side of the conferencing screen

  3. Look for the Boardable Video Admin icon (icon showing a person with a gear) to the right of a participant's name

    1. Participants with this symbol beside their names are admins, and may be hosts

    2. Participants without this symbol beside their names are attendees

II. Boardable Video Attendee

A Boardable Video Attendee can take the following actions:

  • Join a Boardable Video Conferencing session, once the session is started by an admin

  • View agenda

  • View meeting documents

  • View presented documents

  • Present documents

  • Share screen

  • Read and send messages in Boardable Video chat

  • Raise hand

  • View captions

  • Start a recording

By default, all participants with the account roles listed below are Boardable Video Attendees:

  • Members (excluding Meeting collaborators and meeting owners)

  • Observers

  • Guests

Any Boardable Video Attendee can be promoted to Meeting Admin.

III. Boardable Video Admin

Boardable Video Admins can take the following actions:

  • Join a Boardable Video Conferencing session, once the session is started by an admin

  • View agenda

  • View meeting documents

  • View presented documents

  • Present documents

  • Share screen

  • Read and send messages in Boardable Video chat

  • Raise hand

  • View captions

  • Start a recording

  • Mute the microphones of other participants

  • Turn off the cameras of other participants

  • Remove other participants from the conferencing session

  • Promote other participants from Boardable Video Attendee to Boardable Video Admin

  • Demote some other participants from Boardable Video Admin to Boardable Video Attendee

All participants listed below are Boardable Video Admins:

  • Organization admins

  • Meeting owners (including members and observers with this meeting role)

  • Meeting collaborators (including members and observers with this meeting role)

  • Any participant manually promoted to Boardable Video Admin by another Boardable Video Admin (including members, observers, and guests)

Of these, only the last can be demoted from Boardable Video Admin to Boardable Video Attendee. The others can only have the Video Conferencing role of admin / host.
